9:30am – 11am: Planning for Profit Presentation

Dee will discuss three areas of your business that can make or break your profit:  Business Structure, Client Management, and Sales and Marketing. Featuring a special presentation on pricing by business consultant Betsy Patterson.

11am – 12:30pm:  Lunch Break (The venue is near a variety of cafes and restaurants)

Afternoon Presentations (all include a 15 minute Q&A Session):

12:30pm: Floral Essentials by Casey Schwartz of Flower Duet.  Pros and Cons of Pinterest; how to focus your client’s vision; and other key insights on expertly advising your client on flowers and decor

1:15pm:  The Photographer’s Point of View:  Wedding and Event Photographer Brady Puryear shares what it’s like to be the one vendor esponsible for recording every important moment of the big day, and how to work optimally with your couple’s photographer.

2pm: The Art of Emotional Intelligence: As a catering manager at once of the country’s top hotels, Amy Semler of Four Seasons Westlake Village has extensive experience working with clients to build their dream day without stepping on any toes.  She’ll explain how to weave diplomacy and intuition into your day to day dealings with clients and vendors.

About The Speakers

Dee Gaubert is a wedding and event planner based in Los Angeles, California.  She has shared her expertise with engaged couples with the book, The Five Biggest Wedding Planning Myths, and has guided aspiring wedding planners with one-on-one coaching sessions and her mini-workshops Systems and Strategies and Event Essentials.  Dee has also spoken at the Cal Poly Pomona Collins School of Hospitality Management and at the national Wedding MBA conference.

Amy Semler is a Catering Sales Manager at one of the leading hotels and event vvenues in Southern California, the Four Seasons Westlake Village.  She has also lent her marketing and event expertise to Univision and Warner Brothers. Amy is from Los Angeles and attended UCSD before embarking in her successful career as an events and hospitality professional.

Casey Schwartz and her sister, Kit Wertz, are co-owners of Flower Duet, one of the leading floral design companies in Southern California. Casey’s extensive knowledge ranges from seasonality and color to the actual science behind the specific nature of various flowers and greenery.  She and Kit regularly host flower mart tours and give classes on building floral arrangements at their studio in Torrance, as well as various other venues around Los Angeles.

Brady Puryear has been photographing weddings for eight years, shooting over 400 weddings.  His personal approach to couples and talent for eye-popping shots has helped him develop a thriving business.  He also offers valuable mentoring and education to his peers, hosting sold-out workshops on all aspects of developing a photography business, including business development and technical know-how.
