Case Study: Partial Planning – Carondelet

By August 14, 2015No Comments

Last December we planned a beautiful winter wedding at Carondelet.  When I first met this wonderful couple, they already booked Carondelet and the caterer, Tres LA.

The couple was very busy and traveled often, so they needed someone to project-manage – keep an eye on the ball on deadlines, keep planning on track, research and refer to qualified vendors, and manage the budget.  We advised on transportation, liaison-ed with the venue and caterer to oversee deadlines and keep the flow of decisions running smoothly, and found a baker that could create delicious desserts in both vegan and gluten-free versions.

The most noticeable impact of our involvement was our oversight of the design details from multiple vendors, in order to create an overall cohesion of aesthetics.

For example, Lee Dyson of Hey Mister DJ also has a lighting division, and packaging lights with his DJ services kept things cost effective. He has a great set of gear, including pinspots that are magnetically wall mounted.  I supplied him with specs of Peony and Plum’s gorgeous chuppah so he knew how to best highlight this focal point.

We reviewed the different styles of pedestals and trays provided by Fantasy Frostings, and the client chose a setup that accented the warm natural textures of Carondelet.  Linen runners and hemstiched napkins we sourced from Town and Country Rentals, as well as chairs that aligned closely with the existing seats at the venue, allowed us to maintain the integrity of the clients’ vision while keeping a close eye on value.

Our goal is to fulfill our clients’ vision, whatever it may be, and create a gorgeous atmosphere while overseeing both the bottom line and the pacing of the planning.  The result is always a turnkey, smooth event with well-managed spending, and for this reason, Partial Planning has become one of our most popular packages.

As brides and grooms become busier and the demands of wedding planning in L.A. become more complex, this service has been in demand. Our goal is to have our out-of-pocket cost come closer to our day of coordination fee; thanks to our guidance and pre-negotiation, we often ‘pay for ourselves’ completely, even, while shouldering up to 60-80 hours of labor and time on behalf of the client.
